TROOP 252, KENT OHIO

Troop 252

About us

OVERVIEW:
The United Methodist Church of Kent renewed the Charter of Troop 252 in December 2009. The Troop has roots with the Church that date back to the 1930’s. However, the Troop went dormant during the 1970’s.

MISSION:
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

PURPOSE:
The purpose is to provide opportunities for young men to develop leadership traits (skills) through outdoor and high adventure activities. The young men (Scouts) will have opportunities to share in the responsibility of running the Troop and to learn the value of working as a team. Troop 252 strives to maintain quality high energy programming that engages Scouts’ interests. The adult leaders are committed to fostering boy lead programming that embraces Lord Baden-Powell ideals of the patrol method.

(Baden Powell said): “The patrol system is not one method in which Scouting for boys can be carried on. It is the only method”
